Hi!  I thought it might be helpful to take some time to introduce myself, and particularly to share why I have chosen this career.  I've been realtor for seven years.  Prior to that, I was a pastor for 22 years!  I spent two years as a  youth minister, and then eight years as a lead pastor in Wisconsin, followed by twelve years in one church here in Cedar Rapids.  I loved every minute of it, helping people that may have lost touch with God, faith and the church, and seeing them gain something so very important was extremely fulfilling.

When I made my career switch,  there were a few things  I was seeking.  I was looking for something where I could work for myself, I've found I'm a better boss than I am an employee, and I wanted my failure, or my success, to be up to me.  I wanted something where even if I worked long hours, I could also have flexilbility, and I wanted a job where I could feel like I was helping people.

This was my choice.  It seemed like a natural fit.  I am way more interested in people than I am in houses, which is fine, because this career is much more about people than it is about homes.

Over the last few years, I've found out some things, and experienced some successes.  I've learned that I truly thrive in negotiations, and have been successful in selling my clients homes in short time frames, and for good prices.  In 2017, my average listing was on the market for two weeks, and sold for 99 percent of asking price.  I also enjoy "the hunt", helping buyers find a new place, and in that same year, I helped more buyers than anyone else in my office.  (There are around 23 agents in my office)  I also have discovered a true passion for helping first time home buyers.  I actually enjoy answering all the questions, and making a somewhat stressful process as positive as it can be. 

A few personal things about me.  I have two daughters, ages 20 and 27, one is an optometrist in Kentuck, the other is finishing up her senior year in college.  I got married in June of 2018, to Terri Claire, a super wise decision on my part.  I love to play volleyball, and fly fishing is one of the big joys of my life, I've been to Amazon jungle the last two years, leading fly fishing expeditions.
